What is Cosmic Black Granite?

Cosmic Black Granite is a natural granite quarried in Brazil with a deep black background scattered with shimmering white, silver and gold-copper flecks, giving a starfield-like appearance. KML Worktops supplies it in 20mm and 30mm with a polished or leather finish, fabricated and fitted in-house across London and the South East.

As a natural granite, Cosmic Black is very hard-wearing against scratches and handles direct heat from pans well. It is a porous natural stone, so unlike quartz, it needs sealing at installation and periodically thereafter to maintain stain resistance. We always factor this into our aftercare advice for granite customers.

Appearance & Design

The jet-black background is offset by scattered silver, white, and warm gold-copper mineral inclusions that catch the light, an effect often compared to a night sky, which is where the name comes from. It’s a bold choice that works especially well against white or pale cabinetry for maximum contrast, or with dark units for a moodier, more monochrome kitchen.

Fabrication & Installation Process

We template on-site, then cut, polish and seal every Black Granite worktop at our Wembley workshop, including sink, hob and drainage cut-outs. Because pattern and flecking vary across a slab, we encourage customers to view their actual slab before final sign-off wherever possible.

Care & Maintenance of Cosmic Black Granite

Clean with warm water and a pH-neutral stone cleaner; wipe up oil, wine and acidic spills promptly. We recommend resealing granite worktops roughly every 12 months, or sooner in a very high-use kitchen, to maintain stain resistance.
