As a natural marble worktop, Crema Marfil is softer and more porous than granite or engineered quartz, so it is more susceptible to etching from acidic substances (lemon, vinegar, wine) and staining if left unsealed. We always seal Crema Marfil at installation and recommend resealing periodically, along with using a pH-neutral cleaner and avoiding acidic products directly on the surface.
Crema Marfil’s base runs from light beige to a warmer, more yellowish cream, with moderate veining in brown, gold or grey that varies from subtle to more pronounced depending on the slab. A polished finish brings out its natural sheen and chromatic warmth best for indoor use.
We template on-site and fabricate every Crema Marfil worktop at our Wembley workshop, sealing the finished surface before installation. Because it’s a natural, variable stone, we strongly recommend viewing your actual slab before fabrication begins.
Clean with warm water and a pH-neutral stone soap only, avoid vinegar, lemon-based or other acidic cleaners, which can etch the surface. Wipe up spills quickly, use coasters and trivets, and reseal every 12–18 months depending on use.
It can be used for kitchen worktops, but as a porous natural marble it's more prone to staining and etching than granite or quartz, so it's often better suited to a feature island, bathroom vanity or lower-traffic surface, with proper sealing and care.
Yes, like most marble, it can etch (dull or mark) on contact with acidic substances such as lemon juice, vinegar or wine, so we recommend a pH-neutral cleaner and avoiding acidic spills sitting on the surface.
It can stain if spill particularly oil and wine are left on the unsealed surface, which is why we seal it at installation and recommend prompt clean-up and periodic resealing.
