When the client came to us, they already had a clear picture in their head, a proper centrepiece dining table, something that would hold its own in the room without trying too hard. After a few back-and-forth conversations and a visit to view the slabs in person, we landed on Calacatta Marble, and honestly, once they saw it, there wasn’t much else to discuss.
The piece was made-to-measure from start to finish. We hand-selected the slab with the client so the veining would flow exactly where they wanted it to, running through the length of the table rather than getting cut off awkwardly at the edges. Small detail, but it makes a huge difference once the table is in place. The edges were finished with a clean mitred profile, giving the top a thicker, more substantial look without the weight of a full solid block.
Installation was straightforward enough, though Calacatta always needs careful handling on the way in. Once it was settled and sealed, the room genuinely changed character, it’s the sort of table that becomes the reason you have people round for dinner.
The client wanted something that felt classic but not predictable, and Calacatta ticked every box. It’s been a favourite in high-end interiors for centuries for a reason, the depth of the veining, the soft warmth of the white, and the way it catches light all day. We treated the surface with a quality stone sealer to give it day-to-day protection, and walked the client through the basics of looking after natural marble so it stays looking the way it does on day one.
