Free SampleQuartz worktops are relatively low maintenance when compared to other worktop materials. If they receive the right care, they can last for years and years, and they need very little attention. However, there are a few things you should do if you want your worktops to stay looking pristine. Following a couple of rules about what to do and what not to do will help to keep your worktops clean and avoid any damage in the process.

  • Regular Cleaning

Any kitchen worktops need to stand up to everyday cleaning. You should be able to wipe them clean after cooking or preparing food. When you clean your quartz worktops, you need to go gently with them. It’s also important to be quick on the mark and clean up any spills as soon as possible. A damp cloth should be used for cleaning or, if you need a little extra help, a small amount of non-abrasive cleaner without bleach. A cream cleaner and a soft cleaning pad can be useful too. Some people recommend glass cleaner for a gentle and efficient way to clean up.

  • Getting Rid of Stubborn Stains

Sometimes you don’t manage to catch a mess before it has dried. If you need to remove a more stubborn stain, it’s helpful to try and scrape off as much as you can first. Of course, you need to do this without damaging the surface. A soft plastic scraper is the best tool for the job, allowing you to take care of spills and marks carefully. You can then use a damp cloth and a small amount of a gentle cleaner if you need it. Dry everything with a paper towel, dry cloth or tea towel.

  • Things to Avoid

One of the best ways to take care of your quartz worktops is to avoid certain things that can damage them. It’s important to stay away from strong chemicals, oils, solvents and other substances that could be too harsh for the quartz. If you spill anything on your worktops that shouldn’t be there, it could damage them permanently. In the case of an accident, immediately clean up any spills and rinse with water.

You should also avoid exposing your worktops to anything too hot. Don’t put hot pans directly on them, especially if they have just come off the heat. To prevent scratches or deeper cuts to the surface, never chop anything straight on your worktops. Try to avoid dropping anything on them and knocking items against them too.

  • Treating Your Quartz Worktops with Care

Quartz worktops shouldn’t need sealing with any special solutions. Quartz resists liquids, so it should repel them on its own, although you still need to be careful about stains. The best thing you can do is be vigilant and wipe anything up as soon as possible. Too much cleaning is a bad idea for your quartz surfaces, so try to do only as much as is really necessary. Take a gentle approach to caring for your quartz worktops.

Quartz is a beautiful option for your kitchen worktops, but it needs special care. Look after it in the way it deserves if you want it to last for a long time.
